Umbriajazz - Perugia
It’s the most important Umbrian musical event. Umbriajazz has become an institution for Perugia and for the other cities around it because it gathers every year the best of worldwide jazz. There are two editions: the most important one and the most famous is the edition of July, the second one is called Umbriajazz winter and takes place in the city of Orvieto. The edition of July lasts ten days. International renowned artists and musicians from the most important jazz schools in the word use to play in this jazz festival. In last editions we have had musicians like Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock and James Brown, but recently also the new pop music stars like Michael Bublè and Alicia Keys. Many more important musicians have played in Perugia for Umbriajazz, and every year the organization is ameliorating this great festivals introducing new artists and proposing new music trends. Started as a Jazz festival, now umbriajazz may be considered as a global music festival. Besides the two stages set in Piazza IV Novembre and in Giardini Carducci, were there are everyday free concerts from 12:00 to 24:00, one can enjoy concerts in Teatro Pavone, Teatro Morlacchi, in stadium Santa Giuliana or in one of the wine bars were are organized jam sessions live with emerging players.
